FibreTuff Medical Biopolymers, LLC is an advanced biomaterials company focused on the replacement of highly engineered resins in the medical market that are more costly and require post processing for 3D Printing. For the last three years, the company has been developing, manufacturing, and selling FibreTuff biopolymer resins for 3D printing, injection molding, and extrusion of products used in medical industry. The company initial source of revenue came from commercialization of (3) FibreTuff PAPC filaments in a $500,000 advanced manufacturing partnership grant from the State of Ohio led by CIFT a non profit organization in late 2017. Additional funding and support came from partners in excess of $225,000. The company in 2018 has leased a 6000 sq ft facility in West Unity OH for producing FibreTuff PAPC. 


FibreTuff Medical Biopolymers, LLC is a licensee of disruptive material technology to replace plastic resins such as PEEK, PLA, PHB in medical devices and implants. This licensed technology includes North American patents, trademarks and patent pending compositions and processing techniques for compounding high heat polymers with polyolefin and cellulose (PAPC). 


Robert Joyce is the President and founder of the company, the inventor of the company’s technology and has over 30 years in bio compounding. Ted Walkowski, Chief Operating Officer, has over 25 years compounding experience and part owner of his former company Trinity Specialty Compounding. Brian Jones will serve as the Regulatory and Quality Officer. He has 20 years experience in compounding thermoplastics. Lisa Kelly, has 37 years experience as a physical therapist and business owner, serves as the Executive Manager for the company. Tom Hughes - Polymer professional of 35 years.

FibreTuff Medical Biopolymers LLC will sell into the medical market through distribution and directly to customers. The FibreTuff PAPC compounds for sale include patented and proprietary pellets, powders, filament and bar stock. The potential customers for FibreTuff PAPC are processors and device manufacturers, to include; Medical centers, Universities, Hospitals, suppliers of 3D printing filament, 3D printing manufacturers, 3D printing service centers, machining service centers and injection molders. 


FibreTuff Medical Biopolymers is a spin off from Innovative Plastics and Molding, Inc. (IPM), located in the Northwest Ohio area. IPM owns the trademark “FibreTuff”, composition of matter and molded part patents and several patent applications with proprietary technology for the production and use of specialty PAPC resins.
